Love: A Matter of the Will

Catholic Video By Catholic Speaker Ken Yasinski reflects upon the nature of love. What happens if we feel like we don't love God? What if our excitement and passion for Him is no longer there? Does that mean we have lost faith, if we have decreased feelings? When we look to the cross and Jesus crucified, we clearly see that love is not a feeling. When Jesus laid down his life, he did so because he chose to love. Loving God is a matter of the will not the emotions. The beautiful thing is that we can love God, not matter what are feelings are telling us. Whether they are up or down, does not matter. It is what we choose, through the act of our will that demonstrates our love. Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments." He did not say, "If you love me, you will feel like you love me all the time." Jesus asks only that we keep his commandments to love him.
